Pisgah Fosters

Pisgah Fosters. The Mraz family is just one of the many foster families that we have been able to pray for, support with meals, and build a deep and meaningful relationship with at retreats and events. Foster families sacrifice their time, family rhythms, and the armor around their heart when they choose to invite foster children into their home. Kids who have never been held or had a book read to them arrive at a family and have a hard time assimilating into routines, consequences, and loving relationships. It takes court visits, custody battles, therapy, DFCS visits, and an incredible amount of open heartedness to lay witness to the trauma of a child and commit to standing beside them as they heal.
Mount Pisgah believes that verses like Isaiah 1:17, “Learn to do right; seek justice. Defend the oppressed. Take up the cause of the fatherless; plead the case of the widow.” This charge still holds true for Jesus followers to care and love our neighbors who need us most. Foster families need triage levels of support to help the children, foster and biological parents, as well as the biological siblings. 50% of foster parents quit after the first year if they have no support team, but 90% continue to foster if they do. You may have a neighbor who is fostering or a neighbor who has a heart for foster children that could find support, connection, and the love of Jesus through Pisgah Fosters Ministry.
At the Christmas Eve services, our Mount Pisgah family gave over $20,267 to Pisgah Fosters during the offering portion of the service! WOW! The Pisgah Fosters team is so excited and grateful to see how God calls us to love even more children and families in our community. Thank you to everyone who gave so generously.
There can be so much heartbreak in the foster care system; we at Pisgah Fosters witness termination of parental rights, parent incarceration, mental health crises of foster children due to abuse. As a ministry, we have found that when we lean into the heartbreak rather than shy away to protect our hearts and schedules, we also see stories of family reunification, adoptions, salvation, and not just healing but thriving. Miracle after miracle. I am so thankful to every foster parent and every volunteer at Pisgah Fosters who has shown thousands of ways to care for our families. You have taken up the cause of the fatherless and will only know on the other side all the joy and love you have given because of your time, talent, and resources shared. May your New Year be one of overwhelming and overflowing love for God and His People.
