Baptism of Jesus

In this message, we explore the deeper meaning of Jesus’ baptism and the remarkable story God had been telling for centuries before Jesus stepped into the waters of the Jordan River. From Balaam’s prophecy, to Joshua leading Israel into the Promised Land, to Elijah’s transition of leadership, God repeatedly used this place as a setting for new beginnings, fulfilled promises, and anticipation of what was to come. When John the Baptist appeared at the Jordan, he was preparing Israel for the moment when all of that waiting would find its fulfillment in Jesus Christ. Through His baptism, Jesus is revealed as the Son of God, the One who brings light into darkness, hope into suffering, and the fulfillment of God’s promises. This sermon reminds us that the Christian faith is ultimately not about humanity searching for God, but about a faithful God who comes for us and invites us into new life through Christ.
