Stephen Ministry
stephen ministry logo

Stephen Ministry is a one-on-one, confidential ministry focused on listening, caring and providing support during life’s challenges. When you need someone that is not quite as close to the situation you are in, a Stephen Minister can be there. A third party that will listen with no judgment given toward you, your situation or others involved in your situation. You will meet with your Stephen Minister once a week for an hour. You will be your Stephen Minister’s only care receiver. Stephen Ministers are placed with a care receiver of same gender.

Care receivers may be going through challenges such as:

  • Divorce
  • Loneliness
  • Spiritual confusion or frustration
  • Empty nest adjustments
  • New baby
  • Death of someone close
  • Illness
  • Terminal illness
  • Terminal illness of a loved one
  • Caregiving
  • Forgiveness issues
  • Grieving
  • Loss of pregnancy
The list could go on and on. God gave us the Body of Christ to care for each other. Galatians 6:3 tells us “Bear one another’s burden and so fulfill the law of Christ.” He gave us each other as support, an extension of Himself and for encouragement. Allow Him to minister to you through Stephen Ministry.

I WOULD LIKE TO BE A STEPHEN MINISTER
Stephen Ministers are trained with over 100 hours of studying and classroom time. Stephen Ministries provides very thorough training. In fact, many ministers say they wish they had received this training in seminary. It’s that good! It is more than simply training – it is a lifestyle for the caring Christian and can be used in various areas of life and ministry.

Training begins in January of each year and concludes in May with Stephen Ministry commissioning during a Sunday morning service. The classes are held on Monday nights at Mount Pisgah from 7:00 pm - 9:30 pm as well as one Saturday per month. Once the training is complete, Stephen Ministers meet the second and fourth Monday nights of each month 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm. We ask that Stephen Ministers commit to a two-year term of Stephen Ministry service upon completion of training. A training kit is provided for a fee of $50.
